Max Spanjer
Founder
After more than 12 years of international experience in financial markets, Max founded Greenstar Capital. Max worked in the financial centres of Amsterdam, New York and Sao Paulo within banks and trading firms as a director, deskhead and trader. He is experienced in setting up and scaling trading desks for several asset classes, the last one being a successful carbon trading desk trading in EUAs, UKAs, CHUAs and VERs. Max brings considerable knowledge of the environmental commodity markets, general financial markets and its infrastructure to the table.

Joep Gorgels
Director Maritime
Joep is a senior banker and shipping executive with a wide range of leadership roles in shipping, the energy transition, and finance under his belt.
Previously, Joep spent more than two decades with ABN Amro Bank, as Managing Director Global Transportation and Logistics and Country Executive Norway.
The combination of Joep’s knowledge, network and his drive to implement innovative solutions for decarbonizing the shipping industry, make him an excellent addition to the Greenstar team.
Joep focus lies on helping shipping companies to hedge and comply with regards to the EU ETS emission allowance regulations.

Jochem den Boer
Director Australia
With 25 years of operations and process transformation behind him, much of it spent at Capgemini and Capgemini Invent reshaping how businesses run across multiple continents, Jochem leads Greenstar Capital's presence in Australia's refrigerant and synthetic greenhouse gas market. With the national HFC import cap stepping down under the global phasedown, quota has become scarce and increasingly valuable, yet it has largely changed hands privately with little transparency on price or access. Jochem built ausgasexchange.com.au to change that: an open, equal access auction where licensed importers bid on the same volumes under the same rules and clock, with a focus on honest price discovery and fair access for every participant.

Dimitris is a sales and trading professional specialising in EU ETS compliance carbon, power, and gas markets. With experience spanning Amsterdam, London, and clients across, the Netherlands, and Greece, he brings a sharp quantitative edge combined with a relationship-led approach to client portfolio management. Fluent in three languages and holding an MBA, alongside an MSc in Finance, Dimitris structures bespoke trading strategies — from illiquid Greek power options to voluntary carbon credits — helping clients navigate one of Europe's most dynamic and fast-evolving commodity markets.

With a Master’s degree in Art History, Deirdre ensures the daily operations of Greenstar Capital run seamlessly. From coordinating internal processes to preserving the character of our historic canal-side office in Amsterdam, she brings both precision and a keen eye for detail to everything she does.

Akram brings deep expertise in environmental and refrigerant gas markets, with a strong focus on risk management, procurement, long-term offtake agreements, and international trading. As a trusted advisor and supplier to both companies and government bodies, he has built a solid reputation for delivering strategic insights and dependable solutions across global markets.
